The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a set of funding selections to upgrade infrastructure at the National Marine Renewable Energy Centers (NMRECs), including PMEC, "to enable broader industry access and reduce technical barriers to incubating advanced marine and hydrokinetic technologies."
The funding will be used to make upgrades to a number of PMEC's testing facilities, including the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory and Wallace Energy Systems and Renewables Facility at Oregon State, Harris Hydraulics Laboratory and R/V Russell Davis Light at University of Washington, and the Tanana River Test Site and Power System Integration Laboratory at University of Alaska Fairbanks.
The award will be particularly valuable as the NMRECs work with the new Testing Expertise and Access for Marine Energy Research (TEAMER) Program to coordinate and facilitate access to the nation's marine energy testing facilities.
