Collaborate with PMEC

PMEC works closely with marine energy stakeholders, including technology developers, academic and National Laboratory researchers, coastal community members, ocean users, federal and state regulators, charitable foundations and government officials. Because PMEC’s success is only possible through the collaboration and support of our partners and sponsors, we are always looking for new opportunities to advance marine energy.

Study with PMEC

PMEC’s greatest strength is the quality of its students. Across all three campuses, choosing to study marine energy provides relevant, hands-on learning experiences that cut across technological, environmental, and societal considerations.

Though the Center itself is not a degree-granting institution, faculty at each of the three campuses teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise theses and dissertations.

Prospective students interested in studying marine energy should consider applying to one of PMEC’s three partner universities. Undergraduate students typically begin a connection to PMEC during the course of their degree and may choose to focus on marine energy through undergraduate research, project work or as part of the Marine Energy Collegiate Competition. Those interested in pursuing an advanced degree in marine energy, especially those considering doctoral degrees, should connect with a PMEC faculty member in the area of their interest for guidance on applying.

Marine Renewable Energy Club

We are the Oregon State University Marine Renewable Energy Club, a student club supported by PMEC. We foster a community of undergraduate and graduate students interested in marine renewable energy at OSU. MREC’s purpose is facilitating interdisciplinary communication and activities between OSU students and professionals who are contributing to the advancement of marine renewable energy and sustainable, equitable maritime practices.

The club holds monthly seminar and networking meetings. There are also general body meetings that host speaker events, professional development talks and research presentations. Members can also participate in community service events, and enjoy game nights, lab tours and other marine-related opportunities.
