The Lab Upgrade Point Absorber (LUPA) is a state of the art open-sourced laboratory-scaled wave energy converter (WEC). The objective of the LUPA project is to develop a completely open source, fully validated, numerical and physical WEC model. The LUPA design is loosely based on the WaveBot developed by Sandia National Laboratories Advanced WEC Dynamics and Controls research group. LUPA’s float body shape and power take off drive train are based on designs inspired by the WaveBot.
